考题回忆A university recognized that first year students have poor study skills. It is believed that the best way to address this problem is to require all first year students to take courses on study skills, while others don’t agree with this requirement. What is your opinion?
解题思路题目教育类相关题目,也是2019年2月24号旧题重复,审题时注意“ all first year students”这个概念,思考一下三个方面1 .All students是否合理 2 是不是the best way 3 First-year students 有什么特点 4. Study skills具体包含哪些。
1. 立场:不应该是requirement
2. 让步段: 确实可以提高学生学习效率,但是不应该all students
3. 理由1 一些学生可能对课程不感兴趣 2 并不适合所有学生
参考范文In this day and age, university education has been regarded as one of the most important requirements for young people to gain a promising career and an increasing number of young students struggle hard to get enrolled in universities. Unfortunately, some of students fail to manage study efficiently in college, with poor study skills. Some claim that it is the best way for all students to take course on study skills in order to perform better academically in college, and I can hardly agree with this opinion.
It has to be admitted that some students can benefit enormously from learning practical study skills. This is mainly because those students, with poor study skills, can learn more efficiently. We can often see problems that some students who just enter university, often fail to take notes clearly in class, some know little about how to review and preview or even some cannot hand in their assignments punctually, all of which may lead to less satisfactory academic performances in university study. Thus, instilled with certain learning skills in orientation courses, some students, knowing differences between secondary education and tertiary education, can learn to adapt to university education more quickly, thus improving their learning efficiency. For example, Mind palace is a typical example to illustrate this. In my university, in order to help students organize and distinguish complicated historical figures and historical events, all the freshmen are required to learn mind palace, one of the most famous memory methods to organize and memorize massive information. With this study skill, most of students find it less challenging for them to learn history.
In spite of the benefits mentioned above, we can hardly draw the conclusion that all students should required to learn such orientation courses. The main reason is that not all students are interested. As is known to all, interest is the best teacher, giving students greater enthusiasm and motivation. some students who are interested in study skills can benefit significantly, but those students, with little interest, may find it boring or even meaningless . If this is the case, many disciplinary problems may spring up, like lateness, concentration problems or even frequent absenteeism, which would result in counterproductive effect on their study. In addition, not all students need such courses. There are certainly a large number of excellent students who have mastered impressive learning skills. By that I mean some students, after being taught in primary and secondary schools, know exactly how to study well and those students can manage their time efficiently, organize their assignments systematically and even learn to preview their textbooks in advance. It is obvious that many students can pick up a wide range of important and essential learning skills through 12-year compulsory education and it may be a waste of time for such student to participate in courses teaching them how to study.
In conclusion, although some students can learn effectively through orientation courses by learning some essential study skills, I am fully convinced that not all first-year students should be required to participate in such courses and these courses should be optional for students to choose based on their own wills.
