托福考试独立写作赏析范文分享

解题思路本题属于看上去比较难的题目,首先如何界定“the most important problems”, 以及需要界定“during your life time”.

The remarkable and monumental changes in technology bring about not only a prosperous society but also rapid changes in people’s attitudes toward future development. Some people hold an incredibly optimistic view that most of our important issues, ranging from environmental pollution to poverty alleviation, will be tackled in the near future. However, when we examine the issue closely, we may find that it is impossible to solve important issues within our life time even we have high technology now.

First, people can’t solve the problem of the damage to the environment. Indeed, the accelerated development of technology gives us a glimpse of hope that we can soon reverse what we have done to our environment. Unfortunately, the truth is: some changes are widespread, rapid, and intensifying, unprecedented in thousands of years. As United Nations said in a new report, rising seas, melting ice caps, and other effects of a warming climate may be irreversible for centuries and unequivocally driven by greenhouse-gas emission from human activity. Without rapid reductions in emissions, global temperatures could rise more and cause terrible consequences. Then, can we reduce the emission of carbon dioxide and other harmful gas within a few decades? I don’t think so. There are still many issues regarding the wide application of new energy, such as the potential risks of nuclear leakage, the limitation caused by weather while adopting wind energy, and so forth, making it implausible to replace the consumption of traditional energy like coal and fossil fuel. In addition, some more complicated issues, like the dilemma of the pursuit of economic prosperity and environmental conservation, and conflicts among international joint efforts, are all impeding the process of fighting for a better environment.

Second, the gap between the rich and the poor will become worse rather than being solved in a lifetime. Currently, for those people who are rich, they gain better education since they were children. Specifically, they can go to learn some extracurricular lessons, such as calculus, psychology, music, painting, and so on. What is more, their parents have the ability to guide and arrange their path with an insightful direction. Also, these people coming from richer families have better opportunities for jobs, as their parents and other family members have their networks, which support their children. In this way, rich people will get richer, and a virtuous cycle will form. By contrast, for those who come from underprivileged families, they don’t have the benefit that rich people have. Their education doesn’t reach what rich people have, which means they may just finish the nine-year compulsory education and then go to work because of no enough money for tuition. Their parents can’t help them because their parents also didn’t gain better education and have networks supporting their children in working. As a result, their situations can hardly change. Therefore, narrowing the gap between the rich and poor is quite tough. What is worse, it may become increasingly severe.

In conclusion, people can’t solve the important issue within a life time, because some environmental problems are irreversible and the gap between the poor and rich will become wider.
