高分范文示例
The Internet technology has allowed people to carry out numerous tasks, including shopping, without meeting others face to face. It is by and large a positive development, despite the potential impact on social connections.
The use of the Internet for daily communication can enhance productivity and yield economic benefits for individuals and companies alike. In this competitive world, efficiency is a lifeline for people and companies, as the faster they complete work, the bigger market they can secure. If they talk to clients and suppliers online, they can exchange messages easily, confirm details of an order and conduct business efficiently without travelling a long distance to meet each other. Similarly, by placing an order on e-commerce websites and having products delivered to homes, working people can cut the time for shopping and stay in the office if necessary to finish a project before the deadline. High levels of productivity can put them ahead of competitors and satisfy the needs of customers promptly, thereby winning more contracts and earning more money.
Another benefit is that Internet-enabled communication can reduce the need for transport and avoid pollution. The development of online communication tools, such as video chatting, has empowered people to talk to each other in real-time without experiencing any delay. They do not need to visit clients personally or shop in a brick-and-mortar store to buy what they want. This means that a growing number of people can work remotely or shop in the comfort of their homes, rather than driving or using public transportation to offices or high streets. Emissions from vehicles decline and the environmental problems arising from exhaust fumes can be mitigated or prevented.
On the other hand, if Internet-based communication substitutes for face-to-face meetings, community activities, family life and interpersonal relationships can be under threat. There are some heavy users of telecommunication technology who become increasingly unsociable, as everything can be virtually carried out online, ranging from discussions of work-related matters to grocery shopping. They may not feel the need to socialise with colleagues or business partners or to communicate with shop attendants of convenience stores around the corner about the latest news of the neighbourhood. They even miss out the opportunity to enjoy a shopping trip with family, talking about what to buy and choosing gifts for special occasions. Technology may keep some people apart and foster a sense of isolation among them.
In conclusion, I would perceive a drop in face-to-face communication as a positive trend given the economic and environmental benefits, although, for some people, they may feel disconnected from other members of community.
