参考范文Transportation is an enormous issue in this day and age as populations increase while the amount of land remains the same. It will be debated whether solving traffic problems would require encouraging citizens to move to cities rather than live in the countryside.
There are several benefits of influencing citizens to relocate to urban areas including the fact that government tends to restrict the number of cars on the roads in these regions. As a result, more environmentally-friendly modes of transport are encouraged including cycling, walking and public transportation. Moreover, officials in major metropolitan areas generally reduce the number of vehicles sold annually to local residents, which leads to fewer cars on the roads. Additionally, people have more public transportation options including buses or subways and even shared vehicles or they can even carpool, which decreases the negative effects of congested streets.
On the contrary, promoting residents to migrate to metropolises might actually increase the severity of traffic as it is difficult to change existing infrastructure and the population density is much higher in large urban centres. Furthermore, when people move to dense areas, the transportation systems tend to become stretched, crowded and a greater amount of traffic is experienced. Instead of only accommodating locals, transportation infrastructure would need to bear the weight of an influx of individuals arriving from rural areas, which would further devastate the traffic situation.
Overall, from my point of view, encouraging individuals to move to large urban centres is not the answer for reducing traffic problems. In fact, the opposite might be more effective as influencing people to move outside of cities may provide a more lasting solution to transportation issues.
